This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Found just poking around on Ebay- I went back and dug out the links to the seller's previous auctions. I've never even heard of this being done, let alone seen one- am I just late to the party, is this actually common knowledge?
Whatever the case, it's awfully cool!

Kingfisher float? So cool. So who's going to be the first modeler to build this?

I've seen photos of it before...not in color though.
Don't see why it couldn't be done, after all the Japanese had large single-float fighters during the Pacific war.

Fan-dam-tastic, Lynn! I first saw photos of this bird more than 30 years ago. It appeared in Popular Mechanics or Popular Science wa-a-ay back in the day and I have seen at least one modelling article on the subject. The bird was an American SNJ-6 that was pranged and handed over to the Korean techs, who created the vision you see here. These are the first colour shots I have seen.
I assume this ebay auction has long since closed?

Interesting that there's two paper panels taped over something on the fuselage in the first image...
