Jerry Yagen's Fighter Factory/Museum, and Sandy

Does anyone know how the facility down there is? Sandy pretty much went through there, but not sure how close he is to the beach.

Zane asked Jon Brawner earlier about that and he said flooding around the museum, but none of the buildings actually flooded. Looks like they survived pretty well. I believe that Jerry built all the hangars to hurricane specs anyway, so I wouldn't be too worried unless it was a CAT 5 that made landfall.

I've been pretty impressed the museum's facility so far. She's stood up well to every storm that's come her way. I was originally miffed as to why they would want to locate so close the the coast but Mr. Yagen seems to have had his act together in regard to proper design and execution.

Confirming CAPFlyer's comments- Jon reports the pond out front is now a lake and there's high water in some ditches but other than that, they're golden and business proceeds as usual. I asked him about the new Cottbus hangar, and he said there wasn't anything to worry about - it was made of good German steel.

The shuttle Enterprise, on the other hand... sigh.

They are pretty close to the bay, ocean and river but seem to hold up well to what gets thrown at us here. Sandy was really not much more than we get with a nor'easter here. I dont think our winds gusted to more than 55 kts. I live about 9 miles west of them and we got 9 inches of rain here.

This is MAM from the east looking west. You can see the river



And this one is looking to the east. You can see the bay and a bit farther the ocean. So lots of water nearby and not to far off sea level.
