Alberta Aviation Museum could use your help!

Thu Nov 15, 2012 1:34 pm

The Alberta Aviation Museum is currently Canada's 3rd largest collection and a very successful museum in no financial peril, but our airport is being closed and there are issues we are trying to get addressed to be able to continue on the site of what will have been Canada's oldest licensed airport.

The Alberta Aviation Museum Association will be appearing before Community Services Committee of the City of Edmonton Tuesday November 20th.

We will be presenting the facilities Vision and needs for the future to Community Services Committee and hope to come out of the meeting with:

1) Additional area to allow the Museum to adapt to the changing situation of the Airport.

2) A long term commitment (20 years beyond our existing lease) as an agreement or lease for the existing facility and additional areas.

3) Short-term financial operational assistance to allow the Museum to adapt to the changing situation over the next (3) years.

Meeting these needs will allow the Alberta Aviation Museum Association to move to adapt to the changing situation and move forward to become an even greater benefit to Edmonton as a whole and a greater attraction for the Edmonton Tourism market.

At this time the facility needs your support, you can help by:

A) E-mailing the Mayor or your councillor supporting our need for additional space, long term commitment to the facilities place here on Kingsway and short term financial support. We ask that your e-mails remain focused on the Museum so attention to the facility needs is not deflected.

B) Attending Community Services Committee to show support by your presence at the meeting, which sends a strong message. The CSC meeting is at 9:30am Tuesday November 20th in the River Valley room of Edmonton City Hall. We are not a time specific item at this point and may be waiting some time before presenting.

C) Ask other supporters as well as friends and family that support the Museum to e-mail support to the Mayor and councillors or attend the CSC meeting.

This is a critical moment for our facility and your support is very important.

Thomas Hinderks, Executive Director, Alberta Aviation Museum

Yes we would greatly appreciate support from other across Canada, North America and across the oceans.

In 2017 Mark

Which in the world of grants and fund raising is like the end of the week, we need a long term commitment to the site.

The greater problem is room, we are so out of space it's frightening and are desperate to expand, this will be the only opportunity to get that space before the airport is closed and redeveloped.
