Next week will mark the last week of RAAF C-130H Hercules in operation with Australia.
Since 1978 12 H models have served alongside A, E and J models in providing a defence ability to the nation.
Over the next week quite large celebrations are underway at RAAF Richmond and many current and former RAAF members will be present it is hoped.
Today, tomorrow and next week on their last day November 30 2012, C-130H Hercules are and will hopefully be making low high speed passes and pitch ups over the air base as a part guesture (kind of in style somewhat i guess it will be like the F-111 final retirement flight beatup of RAAF Amberley in 2010 i saw firsthand).
A friend of mine was airborne earlier this week in a C-130 Hercules photo shoot over Sydney and another on ground today recording stories and i will be onbase next week to record the last day of operations.
Photos from both events will be seen on my webpage and in future edition of Australian Pilot magazine in 2012 or maybe 2013.
The news so far is that 6 C-130H are for sale, 4 donated/gifted to Indonesia and 2 will remain in Australia as training aids and possibly .....maybe into a museum display item one day?
