First column of kill markings, at the bottom: Looks like a broom. What does it mean?.

Second question: Is this aircraft and it's markings fiction?

Why not, well it would have been a big mistake, everbody knows the Nachthexen (Night Witches) were on the allies side during this war.

from wikipedia

"Night Witches" German nickname for the female military aviators of the 588th Night Bomber Regiment, of the Soviet Air Forces.
The regiment flew harassment bombing and precision bombing missions against the German military from 1942 to the end of the war.
They flew over 23,000 sorties and is said to have dropped 3,000 tons of bombs.
It was the most highly-decorated female unit in the Soviet Air Force, each pilot having flown over 1,000 missions by the end of the
war and twenty-three having been awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union title.
The regiment flew in wood and canvas Polikarpov Po-2 biplanes.

Dunno, but with a 44xxxx s/n on a P-47D-20 bubbletop, he sure has a long string of Me-110's which were pretty much relegated to night time operations by then weren't they?

In the submarine service, traditionally if we came back to port with a broom strapped to the periscope it meant meant all targets that were engaged...were sunk...Clean Sweep!

GADS! It's been years since I've seen my ex, I'm happy to see she still works for the broom factory as a test pilot, and since she's gotten older (and chunkier) has stopped flying the whisk broom sports car-

I think it means he shot down 5 Quidditch players.

Yes, the plane is named after Mr Clyman's spouse, as is his P-40M "The Jacky C". Most of this paint scheme was applied by the previous owners David Price and/or Tiger Destefani but the kill and mission markings as well as the name were added by Mr Clyman.

LOL.

I guess if you're going to concoct a fantasy paint scheme, you might as well make yourself a big hero.

Why is it bad that he painted all those kill markings? I mean, it's not like he's really trying to claim he shot down three hundred and forty two 109's, is it? Is it sort of like those plastic chrome exhaust vents you can glue to the hood of your car?
