Museum expansions?

Tue Dec 18, 2012 4:15 pm

Besides the NMUSAF in Dayton and the NMWW2 in New Orleans, are any other museums out there building additional buildings to their existing museum space?

I also wish I knew. It would be nice to hear about museums that are doing well and expanding.

Due to construction in the Main Exhibition Hall happening October 2012
through May 2013, the Halifax and other aircraft normally on display are unavailable.

Yup, adding another 25,000 (or thereabouts) square foot hangar. Looks real nice so far. They probably have the roof up by now. Maybe even the doors hung.

Historic Flight Foundation (across from FHC) is also going to be adding another hangar this season.

Military Aviation Museum was going to be adding a German hangar and an old control tower to their airfield. Not sure how that's progressing or if that's already been completed and I missed it.

At the Vintage Flying Museum, we are slowly trying to clean out our north hangar and expand our display space. Not putting up any new buildings, just trying to make better use of the space we already have.
