On an overcast day in late September 2012, warbird lovers around the world rejoiced as a de Havilland Mosquito was successfully flown from Ardmore Airport in New Zealand. Warren Denholm of AvSpecs oversaw the project, which required the expert craftsmanship from his own shop and many others, to complete the masterpiece for owner Jerry Yagen.

Is WD no longer distributed through Barnes & Noble? I used to see copies in many stores, but that no longer seems to be the case.

Great to see it's out! It was rewarding to research and write up the Mosquito for WD and the readership; I hope people find the write up answers their questions. It was interesting to spotlight the US use of W.W.II Mosquitos, for instance.

Also in this issue is a Resurrection Report on the Pioneer Aero (NZ) Hawker Tempest II rebuild as discussed on WIX earlier - get the full Gen here. ;)

Regards,

I asked about WD as well as Classic Wings and was told that they ( Barnes & Noble ) are revamping their monthly magazine section with some being dropped and some being added. They are dropping some because they only sell 2-3 copies each month compared to other selections that sell 15-20 per month :? I am only speaking about the locations around the Toledo area, I've called them all and same thing. I don't know if this true for every location or not!

Ah, that great retail line - "You're the 40th person I've told there's no demand for it!"

Whew. It's finally done. I first met Obie at the end of 2009, discovered his previous relationship with Matthews' Corsair in mid 2010, and finally reunited him with the fighter this past September. There were times when I thought the reunion flight would never happen.

Doug is a top-notch warbird guy as are all the warbird guys we met in our 2 day trip to Ramona. Plus I've got a friendship with Obie that will last well past #46. :drink3:

Looks to be a great issue, as always. Can't wait to get mine in the mail..

Feel free to correct me here...

My understanding is that with the new publisher's this past year that they discontinued the B&N distribution..
and that this is available by subscription only?? I'm just trying to recall if I got that from the person that renewed me
on the phone or if I read it somewhere in the magazine, like in the editors commentary, like the sept issue? ...

(and I haven't seen it in a B&N for probably 6 months.. and I've been to a few of them around the country lately.. :-) )

henning

ps. Merry Christmas to all my Wix friends... its been too long! May Santa bless you with a healthy dose of your favorite pass time with wings!

From what has been said above, it seems that it is no longer being distributed via Barnes & Noble :-(

That effectively rules out sales to potential customers who might like to buy the occasional copy when it contains an article that is of interest.

I would like to see WD as a digital download for my iPad. So far FlyPast is the only magazine that I can get from the App Store.

Oh well, that's one less sale then. Good while it lasted.
