Variable Pitch Props c. 1936

Sat Sep 03, 2005 3:26 pm

A&P Folks:

We are looking for a good close-up picture/Data of a 3-Way-Controllable Prop, Hamilton Std c. 1936. (Used in earlier DC-2s).

We know that a variable pitch prop (H/S) had Low/High pitch settings but we are unable to find specific information/data/pictures on the above 3-Way- prop.

Does anyone know what the third setting was called/used? Tks C/W.com FAH619®

RickH: Tks for the comments.

We suspect the term "feather" but have been unable to confirm it.

Does the term "coarse" means anything to you? This term came from an Australian friend who made comments on the same subject.

As far as you know this 3-way-Controllable prop with 3-counterweights installed, ... was or was not capable of feathering the prop? Tks FAH619®

???

Coarse or fine pitch is the limey way of saying high pitch or low pitch on the prop.
