hey fellas!
glad to join this forum! just wanted to say greetings and hello to all! i hope to learn a lot and hopefully can contribute to this awesome site!
i was referred to this website from a nice lady at Planes of Fame because i had a question for her that she unfortunately couldnt help me out with.
anyhow.... i just bought an a6m zero relic claiming to be part of the bullet exit port on the cowling. just wanted to know if any zero experts can verify this claim. if this is in fact an authentic zero part, then of course ill keep it, if not...... im glad the seller has a refund policy...
again, if anyone can help, that would be awesome! thanks in advance

Welcome to the board Andrew.
If no one here can pin it down I know Legend Flyers in Everett Washington is actively restoring a Zero to static. They may be able to help.
I've never gotten close enough to a Zero to be sure. If the parts are real I'd say that wasn't a bad price.

Looks like it ended but could very well be as advertised.
Color could match on the small piece.
The shape of the other part could be the outlet on the cowling,
Everything is corroded.
Welcome to the club.

Thanks for all the replies and welcoming words fellas!
Any opinions on this piece I acquired ? If there are any doubts, please feel free to post! All I have to do is return the item and get my money back if it can be verified that it is fake.
Thanks in advance!

Dunno if you can verify either way except to measure and compare with an original or find Japanese characters or numbers on the part.
Otherwise a spectrometer analysis compared to a known could help you.
Probably far more complicated than you need.
Make a full size template and contact a museum that has one and start there. Maybe they'll match up and you will be closer to knowing.
At any rate your knowledge will increase.
Good Luck

hello andrew,& welcome!! your zeke relic has the correct "dirty reddish" interior primer, so that much is looking good!! i'm at a loss for the physical aspects of the piece. do you have any provinence on the piece??

Hey Tom,
since i purchased this item from another individual, i personally do not have any physical providence on these zero parts.
however, i did contact the seller and asked if he had any providence or story that went along with these items in question. here's his reply:
Dear coachstern,
Hi,I have been to Peleliu 5 times since 1998, the 2 pieces you won were from a friends collection, he passed away 3 years ago next month, myself and a friend ended up with a lot of his stuff when his wife cleaned out many of his relics... Those pieces were collected by our deceased friend at the aircraft graveyard located on the southern tip of the island, there was the remains of an A6M "Zero" engine cowling there and he stripped the "U" shaped piece from it, I watched him do it... Not sure about the other but it was in the same bag which was marked "Japanese Zero Peleliu"...Regards, Rick- nambulmg
any thoughts are always welcome! thanks for the leads and replys guys!
