Which variant(s) of the BF109E's had the spinner cones withOUT the cannon opening in the end?

While there are pictures which clearly show two different types of spinners, I'm not sure if it was standardized by sub-type? IIRC very few early E's had the domed/capped spinner. It almost seems hit or miss as to which spinner they have. The later E's all seem to have the spinner with the hole in the center. (None of the E's had a nose cannon)

That is pretty much what I found this far. No real rhyme to reason. I didn't think that the E had the cannon in the propshaft, but wast not totally sure. If nothing else, the Germans were consistantly inconsistent.

I was under the impression that the full spinners were used more in the desert than anywhere else, but that's not based on mush else other than looking at photos. I have never come across this difference as being noted by a sub-type or a rusatz number, but again I'm not an expert.
The Swiss also used a different propeller type that did not have a hole in the centre of the spinner, post war iirc.

I have too noticed that mostly the desert version had the closed spinner. Thanks for the answers. Ya'll have pretty much confirmed what I have found out.
