USAAF pilot gear mid 1930's?

Mon Jan 28, 2013 1:53 pm

I have had the most trouble finding anything about what USAAF pilots would have worn in the mid-30s. The last time I went to the USAF Museum, the people I spoke to there weren't entirely sure.

Specifically I am looking for gear pursuit pilots would have worn (P-6E).

Any help is greatly appreciated. I've got photos of a couple pilots in the planes, but the photos are so grainy it's hard to make much out.

There's a lot of photos out there floating around with many different 'looks' to the pilots in and around P-6E's, here's a couple

More than likely it varied from field to field you think?

You might want to try the re-enactors subforum over here: Re-Enactors Barracks

Thanks, I'll do that.

Rather than creating a duplicate post, could a mod move this thread?

I hadn't thought of putting it in the re-enactment sub-forum, but it makes sense.
