The pic kind of looks like Wright-Pat, with the "downhill" runway in the back ground.

I agree from the angle of the picture it does look like Wright-Patt.

I'll probably start a bidding war, but I saw these on E-bay and couldn't figure out what the heck was the deal with this B-17E.

It that same bird after some mods, but before the turret was in. Funny how that works.

Oddly, in your photos it looks like they used a bombardier setup from a YB-17!

I'm trying to figure out just how unwieldly that blistered in radio operators upper hatch position worked with the gun out in the breeze

What was really weird, was the B-17 nose grafted onto the B-24.....anyone have photo's of that one?

Here is the slightly less ugly cousin, the XB-24J.

Conversely, wasn't there a B-24 nose grafted to a B-17?

Thanks for the photo's Ryan....Looks like the B-24 might have been a little more streamlined, maybe a little faster than the stock one???

Confirmed. The Hanger in background is Bldg. 571, what is now the Wright Field Fitness Center. Any guesses to the other aircraft in the picture. Obiviously a Mitchell over the nose of the Fort.
