A historic film clip showing the 1978 return to flight of a rare RAAF CAC Sabre , where it was restored by RAAF crews.

This jet still flies 35years on.... but in the very capable hands of the Temora Aviation Museum, with the Sabre on loan from the RAAF.

Don't forget VH-SBR too which should be in the air soon. Would have been great to see both SBR and IPN at Avalon airshow together.

The RAAF Sabre flown by the TAM uses a Luftwaffe ordered modification to the ejection seat, which uses a Martin Baker Mk 5 i recall.
This seat replaced the original type which was was a NAA built design T-4E-1 ejection seat. TAM as i recall, didnt like this older style seat in the modern era, as it was a danger to the aircrew ejecting with hazards etc.

VH-SBR which is yet to fly, has been seen to still use this original 1940s seat T-4E-1 design. I guess Jeff is happy to use the original seat it seems for now or will he also modify the jet with a another seat type?.. time will tell.
