Here's a few stretched over a wide range of types and time. Not a lot of info and original photographers unknown, but a few are real nice looking color images.

The C-52 is still around-started as a DC-3A-197E for UNITED AIR LINES as NC33648, l/n 4127 impressed on the production line as C-52B-DO 417706 on 7/14/41.Released to civil registry as NC 33326 Fleet # 326, DC-3A with NORTHWEST AIRLINES (no Orient yet) on 7/8/44.
Then to MID CONTINENT 6/16/48. then BRANIFF on 8/15/52, LAKE CENTRAL 4/16/61 to 11/30/66. Then to W.F. Long 10/5/69 registration is current & listed as with AIR NOD ENT. San Marcos, CA since 6/13/80.
Impressed Douglas airliners were responsible for lots of oddball designators dependant on cabin door location, engine options, avionics.

I assume the ERCOUPE looking airplane in formation with the CHAMPS was an AERONCA protype.

Mark, thanks for the color picture of the SR8's now I've drooled all over my keyboard and the keys are slippery and it's hard to type

The KC-135E came about from the Air Force replacing the J-57's with JT3D's from parked AMERICAN AIRLINES 707's. The last commercial 707 built (and I helped build it) was converted on the production line in Renton, (hey, the E-3/707 line was on a 90 day cycle) to CFM-56's as a test program that was an attempt to get more life out of the 707. The test flight program went well and miles of useful informaton was gathered, but carriers weren't interested in more 707's so it was converted back to JT-4s @ Flight Test on KBFI ands delivered to its original customer KENYA AIRLINES. But the basic info was used on the KC-135R program

Inspector - that low-wing Aeronca type looks like the 12AC Chum, an experimental design killed off in the post-WWII slump in light planes. If you have access to Aeronca's Golden Age by Abel, Abel & Matt, there is some more info on it starting on page 135. All the best.

Awesome pics as always.

The picture captioned "Stinson Reliant" (after the ones in Gulf paint but before the dissimilar Aeroncas) actually looks to be three Aeronca 50s.

Yes thx for the proper descriptions. It's always a pleasure to have folks here make things right. I'm most interested in the 1966 RAF photos. Stuka looks outstanding. And the Corsair with the red checkerboard, doesn't it belong to the K. Air Zoo?

Tim - I agree that flight of three are Aeronca Chiefs (Model 50C). There is a black & white photo in the book I mentioned above on page 83 of these three planes in the same echlon right taken from above and left of the lead plane, NC 21311, #2 is NC24212 and #3 is NC23900 (I think on #3).

In a museum gathering dust I bet.

Once again, Mark, awesome photos. Those A-7D's in the grey on grey camo are awesome looking.
I never can figure out if we have a camo scheme now or if it's just cheaper to spray leight grey on them and call it done...

Every time I look at your images I see something new to ask. Like why the C47 seems to have been more important than the C46.

Tim, why do you think they are Aeronca 50's? They are definitely Pre-war Chiefs, but I can't tell which flavor of Chief they are.

Edit - never mind, saw Randy's post.
