256 (c/n 144-38142) to NACA Jan 1950 as 133, re-designated EF-82E. Sold March 1954 to Walter Soplata. Noted in Jun 1971 in Walter Soplata collection. Registered Apr 7, 1997 to Wizzard Investments Ltd as G-BXEI; believed never arrived in UK as reregistered N142AM May 1998. Both 46-255 and 46-265 have been quoted, but it appears that only 46-256 is correct.

here http://www.aeronewsline.biz/t3064p65-no ... in-mustang it says that this F-82E-NA Cc/n 144-38141) (NACA-133) was used for high altitude icing test beginning in January 1950 and re-designated EF-82E and sold to the late great Walter Soplata of 1,600 dollars in March 1954. I don't have the time to verify that.

But I do pose these questions; is the airframe at C&P Aviation in Anoka, Minnesota? Who owns the ship? and what is the registration?

I checked the Warbird Registry and saw that there was no category for the twin Mustang....hmmmm ....Buler...Buler...

Is it just me or is that a very non-standard spinner for an Airacobra? And what's up with the prop blur on the Marauder? Don't think I have ever seen camera effects like that before.

The P-39 appears to be a lower priced 'gun delete' model, no cowl guns either and some sort of long, thin high aspect ratio test surfaces mounted on either side of the nose, Factory or NACA project???

The B-26 shot may have been a demo of putting #2 'in the bag' as it probably isn't turning at much over about 1200 RPMs

That's because they are attached to the aircraft since I seriously doubt that forward projecting strut is just there as an aerial curb feeler and what's the story behind what looks to be a flexable sensor hose poking out of the nose behind the attach point of the 'surface'?

They obviously are some sort of test rig that was either a BELL project or some sort of probably NACA or WRIGHT FIELD project. If you hold down on the 'Ctrl' button in the lower left corner of your keyboard and spin your mouse wheel you can enlarge or reduce the size of the photo. The surfaces are definately attached to the sides of the nose at about the lower edge of the ammo access bay and to the two forward angled struts that are some sort of bracing/ load cell at a guess so at a guess, the recording instrumentation was probably in the ammo bay area..... and no one spotted the aircraft appears to be wearing a P-63 carb scoop.

The B-26B is l/n 353 and is one of Baughers holes
