If you mean by "old days" as to having military aircraft displays and even static aircraft at most US airshows - you are probably sadly correct - at least that was what I was expecting as it seems we are on that trend due to sequesters.

As for people sitting and climbing on aircraft I am glad that is in the old days. People shouldn't be climbing around aircraft where they can damage them - if they get hurt by falling off, then thats their own fault. I am also glad because its bad enough trying to get pictures of planes without people in the picture, that would be worse with them on the plane.

Thanks for posting the photo of the C-124. I would have liked to see how those ladies, in dresses, climbed up on top of the fuselage. It was a challenge for most people. We would first get one foot up on the galley table,(about 40 inches high) then swing around and place the other foot on the top edge of the cockpit circuit breaker panel, grab the edges of the top hatch and then pull ourselves through to the top of the fuselage.

Looks like this is one of the very first C-124's in MATS service. It was assigned to Travis AFB (1501 Air Transport Wing). It still has the 6 piece cowling with the internal oil cooler scoop and round tips on the propellers.
