Hi all,
I am preparing a trip to Florida next month and a trip including Illinois in July, and wonder whether any of you know the status of the following DC-3's/C-47's. I have already consulted Roy Blewett's Survivors 2012 and Andy Marden's USAMOOS 2010/2011 as being the most recent printed sources (and obviously Googled profusely, incl. Aerial Visuals, ATDB and airport-data.com).
N31MS, last seen stored at Ocala Greystone, FL (Jumbolair). Offered on e-bay a couple of times, owner has in the meantime died. Not found on Google Maps. Can anyone *confirm* that it has in the meantime been scrapped, or has it survived?
N34MS, last seen under restoration at Florala, GA. Due to go to the 'Road to Victory' museum in Stuart, FL. Has it arrived there yet?
N140JR, last seen at Opa Locka, FL. In the meantime moved off-airport on display at owner's house, location not disclosed. Does anyone know where it is now? (Please PM if you don't want to reveal the information in public.)
N17332, last seen at Poplar Grove, IL in 2008. I've been there twice since, and it's not there. I've also tried to speak and e-mail to people there who supposedly might know what happened to it, but no response.
N54608, last seen at Miami, FL. Formerly at 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant, major damage after Hurricane Wilma (2005). Can anyone *confirm* that it has been scrapped, or could it e.g. have been removed to a scrapyard? (The DC-3/C-47 that was at Palm Beach Int'l, N34FL, was allegedly also scrapped, but has in the meantime been re-discovered a couple of miles south of that airport.)
? (tail number unknown), bare metal C-117 reported in a compound on the east side of Melbourne RAP, FL in 2003. I can't find it in Google Maps, does anyone know what happened to it or give more precise coordinates?
Thanks for any information!
Roger
