Armor Plate - Bendix Upper turret?

Fri May 10, 2013 9:18 am

I haven't seen any turret pictures with this piece installed....not sure if having rear head armor would be a blessing or a curse.

Any thoughts?

I think there are only a handful of B-25s with a complete Bendix installed. How many, fellow WIXers? I assume the Bendix usually had the armor plate at the back of the dome, at least most photos I've seen of the later "forward" turret B-25s have it in place. Not sure about the early B-25s with the aft upper turret. I've seen some Martin equipped B-25s with the rear of the dome painted to better simulate a Bendix and it usually looks pretty good like that. I was never sure that the Bendix actually had armor plate back there, I thought it might have just been a cost saving piece of metal to make the dome less trouble to make.
