with the end of ww 2 the french tried to reinforce their colony in indochina / vietnam & re-assert their rule in that region after the war. the u.s., through lend lease offered namely dauntless dive bombers which operated from lend lease carriers, they also used grumman avengers, hellcats, & yes guardians!! in that region. any records of crashes of those types in french markings in that region???

Perhaps some of these AU-1s delieved by Marine pilots from the USS Saipan to Danang in April 1954 are still there??

i feel that this is a thoroughly unexplored / untapped region in finding anything warbird related ww2 to the u.s. pull out in nam 1975!!

44-34496; Douglas A-26B-61-DL Invader c/n 27775; loaned to France January 1954 for service in Indochina. Shot down May 4, 1954 at Dien Bien Phu.
44-34487; Douglas A-26B-61-DL Invader c/n 27766; (B-26C) loaned to France Feb 1954 for service in Indochina. Missing Mar 14, 1954 between Dien Bien Phu and Cat Bi.
I will check my Invader data for more details.
