I've been reading robert Morgan's book and noticed he mentioned that they came into west over afb in Chicopee,ma and spent the night. Is there any photos of this? He also mentioned they started their tour with stops in Hartford,ct and Bridgeport,ct. Does anyone know if it was Rentschler Field and Sikorsky airport? Any photos exist of these stops as well?

Probably in personal scrapbooks and obviously in local newspaper archives. It would be interesting to read local newspaper coverage of the tour to see how it was covered..(what was said...and especially, not said. Did anyone bring up the odds of a B-17 crew surviving to complete their tour? Probably not).

There was a booklet published that was sold on the tour. I have a copy somewhere but have not looked at it in 25 years. I do recall that it was published in Dayton, OH.

Thanks jerry! I remember them closing that airport in the 90s. I'm guessing brainard in Hartford wasn't there yet or the runway was tight at that time to get a b-17 in there? Anything from west over when it first came in overseas? Or anything noted if it stopped at Sikorsky?
