F-84F

Fri Sep 30, 2005 7:21 am

Here are some shots I took a couple of weeks ago of an F-84F located at the Cobb County Youth Museum near Marietta, GA. It is off the beaten path, and very unlikely someone will just stumble across it.

It is serial # 51-9382, and was manufactured by General Motors. I believe the 116th Tactial Fighter Squadron of the GA ANG flew these aircraft in the early 1960's out of Dobbins AFB near Marietta.

The plane is in pretty good shape, although without an engine. Most of the museum visitors are middle school age kids and most ignore the plane, which is in an alcove in the woods next to the parking lot.

Thanks for posting the photos Walt. It looks like she has had a "replacement" canopy installed.

I don't know why those old Republic monsters appeal to me, but for some reason they do.
