This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Just saw a story on Fox News that the crew of an A-26 that was lost over Laos was laid to rest finally at Arlington today. "Due to budget constraints" no fly over was provided for the service by the Air Force. A fly over was provided by two P-51's, A-26 'Spirit of North Carolina' and an L-39, part of Warrior Flight. To the Air Force shame on you, so much for taking care of your own. To the crews of today's mission, thank you for doing what you did for the heroes and their families. Very emotional moment for me, both as a retired Senior Chief and someone that has been involved in the warbird community 19 years.
Keep'em Flying,
Bob

Andrew McKenna used his recently acquired P-51 as part of this.

It is a shame that there was not a military flyover. But don't blame the Air Force. It's due to the U.S. Government's Sequestration that started earlier this year. None of the military branches are allowed to do any flyovers or demonstrations (i.e. Blue Angels, Thunderbirds, etc).

Thanks for the story and the link to Fox News. I'm suprised they were even able to get permission to do the fly over in that airspace

was a great opportunity to give back to our heros.

Thanks Andrew (and everyone else involved) for taking part today. That was a very nice gesture.

Andrew, let me join the chorus and tell you thank you for doing the flyover.

I believe that Panchito did a single ship flyby also.

I for one, am happy to see this privatized. Vintage warbirds were very appropriate for this, as for any other veteran memorial. Something to be proud of as a symbol of our pride of country and history.

Don't know what they showed on Fox, but the local news here showed the single B-25 (Panchito?), a black A-26 with Mustang on each wing (McKenna and Yoak I think), and a very nice missing man with four L-39s.

Thanks to the pilots and planes who flew today! Not to hijack the message but when I went to Arizona for the memorial for the 19 firefighters that died on the Yarnell Fire the Marines did a missing man flyby...in their harriers.

Congress won't give the money to honor hero's but they still sleep in $1,000 a night hotel rooms and eat at $500 a plate functions and charge that to the tax payer. Somthing is wrong here folks.

Thank you to all those who participated today.
Again, I believe that opportunities like these are the "silver linings" in the sequestration cloud. The positive publicity that this gives to the Warbird movement is invaluable. I will bet that someone watching today will think "That is something I want to be a part of".
I saw an interview with the family on the local news, and the nephew of one the flyers said that when he saw the A-26 fly over, it just gave him a lump in his throat. Had there not been the budget constraints, this probably would not have happened. While an F-16 missing man formation is certainly a spectacle to behold, to be able to fly over in the same type of airplane that these two men were lost in brought a whole new dimension to the flyover for the families.
