First Chinese-American woman to fly for military died in fiery crash in a P-63.

Hazel Ying Lee received her pilot's license the very year she took her first flight. She was that passionate about flying.

A little more than a decade later, she died doing what she loved. The first Chinese-American woman to fly for the military, she was killed as she ferried a fighter plane from New York to Montana during World War II.

She was flying P-63A-10-BE 42-70412. Baugher comes through again:
70412 (3rd Ferrying Group) crashed Nov 23, 1944 after collision in midair with another P-63 on final approach to Great Falls MT. Both planes crashed 5 mi. E of the Field. WASP pilot died from burns 48 hours later, the other pilot survived.

Accident-Report.com lists the other P-63 as 42-70393.
