Since we just got the airplane back in the hangar, I wanted to start a thread to post some progress updates. As some of you may know, we're currently raising funds to take W7 back to Normandy for the 70th anniversary of D-Day next year. We've got a lot of work ahead of us, including the annual inspection and installation of period-correct pan seats (time permitting).

Props were overhauled two years ago, it's on the list to get done eventually.

The prop domes are nods to two of our longtime volunteers who are no longer with us. #1 is red for Eddie Hopkins, our longtime director of maintenance who always painted his prop domes red. #2 is blue for his wife, Raubbie, who ran the museum office for many years.

BTW. I love this feature. Something pretty simple that looks great. Harkens back to Fuddy Duddy and makes the aircraft slightly more "kid friendly".

Ed and Raubie dedicated a huge part of their lives to the museum at Geneseo. I'll never forget them.
Another awesome long time supporter (you'll meet her if you renew your membership in person) was the inspiration for the name on our Tiger moth.

Marilyn Cleveland. Very cool and classy lady.

BTW. I love this feature. Something pretty simple that looks great. Harkens back to Fuddy Duddy and makes the aircraft slightly more "kid friendly".

The oddest thing is how the two engines have taken on the personalities of their namesakes. Eddie is slow to get started, especially on a cold morning, blows a lot of smoke, spits oil all over. Raubbie starts right up as long as you take it easy on the primer, runs clean, doesn't smoke much on start. Once they're going and warmed up they both work hard and run great.

Ed and Raubie dedicated a huge part of their lives to the museum at Geneseo. I'll never forget them.

For us, attendance at Geneseo is mandatory!
I've met so many folks that I like, that the airshow is a "bonus" to what is always a great weekend, and a highlight of the summer!

Quick Update-
We've been busy over the last month since she got back from Islip
-Engine cowlings are off, accessories are in the process of being removed (everything is getting overhauled before the trip)
-Ailerons are off, they will be rejuvenated and repainted
-Hydraulic regulator, accumulator, and relief valve have been removed from the aircraft for inspection/overhaul

We've heard some rumblings about others going over but nothing confirmed. I don't think there will be any formations, everyone will be on their own schedules for logistical reasons.
