This reminded me of the time when I was around 10 years old and found a paperback book about the Battle of Britain in a school book catalog. I ordered it and was surprised to find it was about the making of the film and not the actual battle. The book was revelation as I didn't know anything about "warbirds" and found the whole story of finding and fixing old planes to be fascinating. One story I remember was during a weather break the pilots were all getting antsy and stealing away to carouse. The producers fixed the problem by buying a bunch of electric powered aircraft which the pilots proceeded to fly around the hangar, modifying them for aerobatics or speed.
