Great pics and to think that all of those aircraft made in Australia became pots and pans. No Australian built Lincoln out of 72 exist save the nose of one at Thomas Collection in Camden NSW....

One of the reasons why the Australians were so successful in Phuoc Tuy province during VN war was due in part to lessons / trade learned in counter insurgency warfare in Malaya / Borneo in the 50's and 60's

As a side note until the ADF recently withdraw from Afghanistan, the Malayan conflict was Australia's longest military campaign.

from wikipedia;
'The Malayan Emergency was the colonial government's term for the conflict. The MNLA termed it the Anti-British National Liberation War.[1] The rubber plantations and tin mining industries had pushed for the use of the term "emergency" since their losses would not have been covered by Lloyd's insurers if it had been termed a "war".[2]

and from my acquaintance it affected those who served just like a war, yet they, accordingly, had little or none of their dues for it ...

An interesting bit of history I was totally oblivious to (and my wife is from Brisbane!)

HMAS Perth: WWII warship grave stripped by salvagers. Australian authorities have tried to keep the scandal a secret, fearing the issue might add fuel to the ongoing diplomatic tensions between Australia and Indonesia.

The Communist insurgency re-erupted in 1975 with the fall of SVN. The Malaysian Army/Police/Air Force were in action for another three or so years. RMAF Sabres [ex-RAAF], CL-41G's, Caribou gunships, F-5E's all in action dropping bombs, strafing etc around northern Malaya...I was there..bombs, bullets and cheap :drink3:
