Has anyone been here recently? Just wondering what shape the planes are in. www.tinker.af.mil/photos/mediagallery.a ... eryID=9874

I go by every once and a while. Overall not bad. Good from 20 feet. Lots and lots of paint. I would guess (and it's purely a guess) that they get a liberal coat of paint from time to time. I think that the B-29 is an Aberdeen transplant. It's one that would be really nice to have somewhere under cover and out of the weather. No museum in OK big enough to house it, though, or any that have the cash on hand to bring it in and put it under cover. The neat thing would be to transport it to a museum, strip the paint, and polish it with some Oklahoma related nose art. Problem will be transport, disassembly, and getting the Tinker folks to let go of it in the first place...

All the WW2 planes on outside display need to come indoors. Otherwise there will be a mass scrapping of those aircraft in 10 to 15 years.
