China Lake Aircraft Question

Fri Dec 27, 2013 10:03 am

I've been playing around on Goggle Earth and I have two Questions:

Is this part of the museum at China Lake NAS?
35°40'38.66" N 117°40'35.81" W

What is this by one of the gates? It's about 54 feet long and I don't think it's a B-29.

Thanks,
Jerry

There is a pen south of the hangers. With a KC97, a B-29, RA-5C, F-4, A-6's, and maybe a t-39? Oh and two C-117/R4D-8's that are of interest to me. I have several vintage photos showing China Lake C-47's and R5D's. They seemed to like the day glo/high rez schemes. I was surprised how far away the B-29's are.

35°39'28.64" N 117°40'02.59" W looks like building foundations. Maybe an outbuilding for the engine shed to the east.

35°40'38.66" N 117°40'35.81" W is the bone yard. Some say it's part of the base museum, others say it all belongs to the Navy museum at P-Cola.
