How to treat corroded Aluminimun artifacts

Any suggestions on how to treat corroded aluminimun artifacts with a clear coat spray?

We have a number of aluminum artifacts recovered from crashed warbirds that are in various stages of advanced corrosion at the Travis AFB Museum.

for example we have B-17 Vertical Stabilizer Tip recovered from Oregon crash site

We want to be able to display the artifacts AS IS, and slow the continued corrosion of the artifact.

Is there some kind of clear coat spray for aluminimun?

Spray the parts liberally with corrosion X, it will penetrate deep and kill the corrosion and prevent further damage. You may have to retreat every year or so depending on how you store the items.

l'll second that, corrosion X does a great job. Just be careful where and how you display treated items, such as paper or textile in the same case. If it is hanging on a wall or off by itself you should be fine but sprays and oils have the ability to creep and leach into other areas, especially display cases.

I would use something else as a test piece, and give a clear urethane or epoxy a try.
