Very cool. You have to wonder if in all that largely inhospitable terrain there isn't something marvelous waiting to be found. I once met a helicopter pilot who while flying in the Horn of Africa area (pre GPS) made an impromptu precautionary landing only to find several Spitfires covered in brush. The problem was he wasn't sure just what country he was in never mind an actual navigation fix.

Interesting story about the spits, and I never even knew about this conflict thanks for sharing.

Found this in the area mentioned in google earth I'm no expert on tanks is this ww2 era?

The rounded turret with nearly circular base and Christie type suspension says to me that this is probably a Soviet era T-54/55 probably lost during the late 1980s or 90s. I have seen somewhere photos of Italian aircraft relics somewhere in Ethiopia or Eritrea from 20 or so years ago at an airfield. But I still think that somewhere in the hinterlands there has to be something of interest.
