DC-3 crash recovered in Antartica -"Lidia" (Basler BT-67)

Thu Apr 24, 2014 4:21 pm

This is a 16 minute YouTube clip of the repair of ALCI's Basler BT-67 TurboProp DC-3 that crash landed near Holtanna Peak, Antarctica in December 2012.

The crashed tore off the DC3's ski's and landing gear. The repair required the complete replacement of the cockpit cabin, skis & landing gear, engines, props, and structural repair to both wings.

This 1944 DC3 was repaired and flown out of Antarctica November 2013 in 44 days.
