A-26 Identity Help Needed

Fri May 16, 2014 8:54 pm

Around 1976 or 1977, I spent a week or two around the Savannah, GA airport, and there were two A-26s there that seemed to be resident, not transient, as I never saw either move the whole time I was there. They were both white, one with green trim and the other with blue trim. One was fairly "stock" looking, with a B-type hard nose and standard canopy. The other one was pretty heavily modified, probably an On Mark of some sort, with an airliner-type cockpit, long nose, and I think tip tanks and windows in the fuselage. I think the stock-ish one had the green trim, and the modified one, the blue trim.

I've never seen either of these airplanes in any book or magazine.

Anyone have any idea of the identity of either one, or where they might be today?

Or maybe it was one of these:

I remember thinking that one was pretty ugly, but the other wasn't so far gone that it couldn't be "brought back," at least cosmetically.... :?

I thought it was a wicked looking -26, it was really something else but sounded sweet. I just did not dig the configuration
