USS Hornet Museum - Urgent Help Request

ATTENTION ALL F-4 PHANTOM PHANATICS !!! The U.S. Navy is retiring the last flying Phantoms from her inventory. There are currently 12 aircraft assigned to VX-30 at Naval Station, Ventura County (NAS Point Mugu). Two of these aircraft are to be preserved, two are being donated as museum pieces, one to the Naval Aviation Museum and the other to the USS Midway Museum in San Diego, the remaining eight aircraft are scheduled to be used as targets at the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center at Fallon, Nevada.

An aircraft had been designated for the USS Hornet Museum at Alameda Point, California, but now it appears that it was designated for one of the other uses. This is the last chance to preserve a Phantom for this educational purpose, that generations of youngsters can see this magnificent aircraft and learn of her roll in defending our nation.

Your help is needed immediately as these aircraft are scheduled for elimination within the next few weeks. Please contact your congressman and the U.S. Navy and urge that one of the eight aircraft designated as a target at Fallon be transferred as a museum piece onboard the Hornet. Action must be taken immediately or the opportunity will be lost forever.

Thank you for your assistance.

If anyone has the ability or resources to help please do. Because one day years from now we'll look back and wish that more could have been saved. Thanks
