Can ya handle some more busted, broken, bent ...

Thu Jun 26, 2014 3:21 pm

... beat up, water-logged, scorched, charred, blown-up, shot-up, mangled and just all-around abandoned and neglected airplanes? I got a bunch more unless you feel that certain nausea coming on.

Part 1

I can't tell what type these float planes are, but I bet someone knows. Location I believe is the Philippines c 1945?

Bring 'em on, can never get enough of these. That 110 likely got stripped pretty quick...

Someone mentioned a while back that it seemed P-39's and P-63's were somewhat void of crackups ... well! perhaps not?

VERY interesting paint job on that P-63!

Probably a postwar race bird because of the clipped tips.

Has a N Number on the vertical and this was probably a few years post racing days based on the faded paint.

From a post at AAFO about P-63's modified during the early 70's FWIW-
I've seen a few photos of the pretty green and polished aluminum N73744, another P-63C with serial 44-4181. It was originally Frank Singer's Bendix racer #53 between 1947-49, and was with Bruce Madison, of Phoenix, AZ, between 1963-1968. It apparently crashed near Chicago in June 1968.

Mark - another set of interesting images. I think that the Japanese float planes in the very first image are Aichi E13A "JAKE" types. Thanks again.

Interesting to see the Vals; did the US ever capture an intact example (or assemble one) for testing? The Japanese POW still wearing his uniform cap in a seemingly casual pose with the Americans is a surprise as well.

In the picture of the Me 262 at Munich.....I see the 262 has an odd bulge on the nose and it looks like the gun ports are covered over....What was this? was it a recon version or something else?
