It looks like it...and her engines in front of the forward fuselage section. Wonder where the rest of the plane is...still in storage?

Yes, still stored at present.

I was in the museum (wife and I went to the NASM for our honeymoon, what a keeper!) and spoke to a docent in the restoration area on July 28 and he stated that the museum was awaiting the arrival of the rest of the aircraft for the past two weeks so that restoration could begin.

He couldn't provide an explanation about why nothing had shown up yet.

I did like seeing the various Horton 229 pieces scattered about, that will be an awfully interesting piece of history when it's done.

Cheers,
Rob

I haven't been to the NASM on the Mall in a while.

Have they put anything in the WWII galery where Flak Bait's nose was?

Not much room there, I suppose.

Yes, but quite an exquisite sort if torture. The He-219 coming together, Flak Bait coming together, the Ho229, and on and on. After so many years of seemingly so little happening at NASM, we are pretty fortunate to be around for so much and to be able to actually see it in real time.

Whats the plan with the Garber facility...are they keeping it or moving everything to storage at Hazy?

According to the Smithsonian FB page, the rear fuselage has been brought out of storage and into the restoration facility...

Here are the Flak Bait Bits in the shop on Thurs 8/14. I talked to a docent who said FB is the main "active project" right now, and they've been bringing the pieces over from Garber. He said maybe two yeas until she's done..I'm thinking probably longer than that. Seems to me it will take at least a couple of years just to evaluate the condition of everything and plan out the project before serious conservation/reassembly can even begin.
