I understand the whole (or mostly) B-29s are no longer there, however I'd like to know if there are cockpit sections or other sections of B-29s that could still be saved. Even if most of the internal equipment is missing or the section is heavily damaged. If there are sections, especially of B-29s, what would it take to salvage one? I have a project in mind.

If memory serves correct, there are 2 " aircraft" left. Both have the cockpit area which is basically a stripped shell.

A Google Earth search shows an SB-29 wreck up to the north of the base.

There are a few bits left, but as others stated, in pretty poor shape, or in the museum storage area. There are some good pictures on the web if you take the time.
As a caution, don't be suprised if you get labelled as another kook hoping to find another Fifi and fly her out. Thsoe days are long gone and they get quite a few calls over the years, and are likely pretty tired of it.....
I think the lady in the lake B-29 in Alaska would be a good project.
