This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

The Lancaster made its way from Goose Bay yesterday, and as it approached Ottawa was met and escorted by our P-51 and P-40.
Great video and stills on the Ottawa Citizen site.

http://photography-on-the.net/forum/sho ... ?t=1399882I wish I'd been there! Bad timing! But had just got back from a China flight, and it would have been irresponsible to just hop into a fighter without a day off inbetween.
Still... [loud grinding noises from back teeth]....

Poor Dave,
Has to get his warbird fix on the internet like the rest of us slobs
We've sure had some great wx lately here in the great lakes area. Hoping to do a few fall colours flights in my Tiger.
Saw a pic of the boys fresh of the Lanc hoisting a beer. I know that one tasted good.
Congrats to all at CWH as well as the countless who made this trip come to fruition

There's been all kinds of bombers getting intercepted around here lately. At least this one seems friendly!
I kept an eye (and ear) out for VRA as I was hoping it would pass by on the way back to YHM. If they did, I missed them. I guess I'll use that as an excuse to visit the museum again sometime.

When I was returning to CYRO from a day of CASARA flying, I heard the two fighters on Ottawa Terminal when they were heading out to play and presumably wait for the Lanc. Then an hour or so later I was sitting at the intersection of St. Laurent and Ogalvie and I heard a rather loud and deep roar (which I didn't immediately recognise through the closed windows of my truck). In a minute or so the Lanc and it's escorts passed in front of me so that I could see them. It was quite the sight, good thing I was at a light. Then as I was heading west on the Queensway they came back on a return pass over the city, talk about distracted driving....
I would have loved to have been out at the hangar for this event, but other duties called.

Yes, Mike and Rob Erdos had a great time. I texted Rob that day to see if they'd made the intercept, and all I got back was "Wahooooo!!!"

The still photos show the great exhaust stains along the sides of the nacelles.
Something that is never seen at airshows. Fabulous!!

And it took a Atlantic crossing to get that way, Vlado could do the same in a single flight, I cleaned a few exhaust stains off Moonbeam that went all the way to the tail after a single Heritage flight training mission.
