Even though being considered one of "England's finest" is precisly what the film is suggesting. I'm quite sure others from other nations who served in the RAF or FAA wouldn't be offended in the least being considered one of "England's finest" either.

Sorry, but I've watched the film a couple of times, and nowhere does it mention him as being one of 'England's Finest.' And I can assure you that anyone from Australia, South Africa, New Zealand or Canada would be most offended at having that title bestowed upon them too!

As for the commonwealth folks you stated? Your probably correct there. I guess "Commonwealth's finest" would be more appropriate? I would assume the Eagle Squadron guys would be quite proud to be considered one of "England's finest"

I'd be proud if England bestowed that honor on me, but that's just me.

Then you must be watching an entirely different film from that linked to above (the Jsmes Holland one). I repeat, nowhere in this film, let along in the first minute as you claim, does he refer to Eric Brown as 'England's finest'. That would be a bit like referring to a Canadian as 'America's finest.'

I believe British is probably the best description, as it was made by the BBC and James Holland states that he "was probably the best pilot this country produced", but it's quite an accolade no matter.

Mark, you might like to listen to this. It goes over some of the same ground as the TV program but there are extra stories. I know you can't watch BBC TV iPlayer outside the UK but I'm told that BBC radio programs aren't blocked.
