The Greenland Sledge Patrol

Wed Jan 14, 2015 10:48 am

For those students of WWII history, here is a 16 and a 1/2 minute preview of a documentary on the history of the Greenland Sledge Patrol that is in the works. The patrol was responsible for monitoring the German activity in Greenland and among other things helping in the rescue of downed flyers crossing over. In the below preview, you will see some pics of the aircraft and people involved with the PN9E rescue and the pilot of the J2F-4 Grumman Duck. The Duck Hunt of course is still ongoing. I do believe some of the Sledge Patrol members helped with recovering the Lost Squadron aircrews. There is some nice footage in this piece.

John, did Duck Hunt summer 2014 happen? 2013 seemed well covered, but really dropped off after that.

Yes....it went. I don't think there is anything new to report. The CG and JPAC are still working on it.

Thank you, and surely a noble project to bring the three home. It must be an emotional project for all those involved, to be seemingly so close....yet so far.....

I wish the project luck, or if the page is turned, my admiration for a solid effort by all and the guts to try, and eternal peace to the crew and families.

No sweat. We know where it's at....just have to get the right technology up there to confirm the location. That is being discussed. I do hope it can be found for the surviving family's sake. The pilot's sister is still alive.
