Hawker Typhoon Shoot Down September 29, 1944.

Mon Apr 27, 2015 8:24 am

Looking to identify a Luftwaffe Bf 109G-6 or G-14 pilot that brought down, at 1117 hours, a Mk. IB Hawker Typhoon six miles east of Nijmegen, Holland hours on September 29, 1944. Would like to know the German Squadron involved. The Typhoon, coded F3-Q, Serial PD479, belonged to RCAF No. 438 "Wildcat" Squadron. Killed in action that day, while on an Armed Reconnaissance sortie, was RCAF Flying Officer John Edgar "Jack" Cornelison from Louisville, Kentucky.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.
