FAH H-19Folks/Sidsiko:

Good Day!

By process of info/data elimination the H-19 FAH fuselage below is the most likely grey scheme FAH 818. Buno 130228. This sample crashed c. 1968-69. Photo via AEC.

p.s The R/S boom attch mod id plate seems to be missing for now. Do one similar exist on the L/S of the fuselage also?? Additionally, some data indicates this sample arriving at TGU c. '64 with an orange U.S NAVY scheme fuselage. We''ll keep digging.

In addition to CH-19 (HRS-3), BuNo 130228; BuNo129043 was also transferred via the Military Assistance Program in 1964 or 65. Sadly indeed, the crashed fuselage is missing both the primary and modification data plates. It appears the skin where the modification plate would have been attached - directly in front of the tail boom connect point - was ripped from the fuselage.

Based on the photo below of both aircraft (130228, foreground. 129043, background), it's always been my opinion that 228 was painted International Orange because it was common to delineate the Yellow, tail-rotor-caution stripe at the aft end of the tail boom with black lines on the orange painted examples. I could certainly be wrong and there is no doubt the fuselage carries "Abandon Chute" painted on the underside just as it appears on the crashed fuselage. It appears 043 was painted Seaplane Gray with Orange nose doors and aft tail boom.

Hi! Tks for the excellent info/pics & data. I agree, unfortunately,... by c.Oct 2005, someone got to the ID mod plates 1st. But we still have another source/place to look for.

Do the sample above appears to have some orange traces to you?? I find it odd that has a prob dark green color/primer?? I was told that some of the FAH H-19s noses were orange upon arrival time c. 1964.We'll keep digging! ..for now!
