Cavanaugh Flight Museum P-47N
This aircraft is owned by the Commemorative Air Force and is based at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum.

Wings are still off. No change.

It seems like the progress stopped when they got involved in the B-29 engine project.

I have great memories of seeing this T-Bolt at the fantastic CAF Harlingen airshows, but if there is no interest in funding the rebuild, wish they would sell it to Texas Legends, Lewis Warbirds, LSFM, or some other Texas outfit or some Texan who would get it back in the air. Think of the restoration Ezell Aviation could do with this great warbird if given the opportunity.

I know the N models were fast -- but the Cavanaugh page has it with a top speed of 505 mph. That can't be right, can it? I always thought the M models were the fastest T-Bolts with a speed of 473 mph. IIRC, the M model was a D-model with the N-model's more powerful engine.

Hasn't the CAF re assigned this a/c to the Georgia group?

Came across this Facebook post on the Cavanaugh Flight Museum Facebook. From November 12, 2013

The P-47 is out of hiding in hangar 3 for potential sponsors to check out. Come on out to the museum and see the only civilian owned N model P-47 Thunderbolt in existence

Things may have changed since then, just know everyone loves pictures!
