Sat Nov 26, 2005 2:39 am

Anyone have a thought as to what this wheel and tyre are off, thinking caps on. Details on the tyre are - Goodyear tyre 8.25 x 16. 3 rims.
I have posted elsewhere so if you see it in several places Im just trying to cover my bases.....

That sized wheel (32 x 8)is used on a Grumman F6F Hellcat, but the spoke pattern doesn't look familiar.

It's a one piece wheel Rob, -4 and -5 Corsair has two piece wheels and beside that, where would the brake go?

Looks more like the nose wheel off of something.

WarBird Bob & Bob the Cow say,

The left wheel looks like it has a brake assy on it, we are going with the early one piece Corsair wheel 32x8.8.

Also, there are photos out there of -4's and -5's using the one piece wheel.

Thanks guys, I was thinking Corsair also and given their location that would most likely fit.
They are located in New Zealand and are currently being used on a farm trailer, as often happened during the disposal years.
In fact I have a set of wheels on a spray unit back on my parents farm which I will post for an ID but I dont have a photo at this stage.

Gary,

You'd really be moo'ing if you had to stetch one of those 48 ply tires over one if them!!!

I'll check Bob's answer out with my cows tomorrow!
