Where to post Reno warbird photos? (Edited title)

Sat Aug 01, 2015 5:23 pm

My interest in Warbirds has always been primarily oriented toward Racing. I've now moved to scanning early Reno images. My question regards where people here would prefer them posted. I like to post here in The Hangar because I suspect more people will see them here than over in the Racing and aerobatics area. Like my Miami thread this stuff involves Warbirds in earlier paint. and Warbirds going fast -- both of which would seem to fit The Hangar just fine. Having said all that, I'd be fine going to the other area if WIX prefers...

So any thoughts?

Sounds good to me...

This is a side trip -- not a real old photo, but it is a Corsair.

Great.

I would be interested in seeing any photos you have of N5449V, "Ge Ge II" or #81 "Habu" from the Tired Iron Racing Team. It was destroyed in a crash in the 1980s.

Got lots -- that was a favourite airplane of mine. This shot is not real sharp, but it sure is an interesting mix of airplanes.

The Lefty Gardner Racing Team at Reno 1976. Lefty ended up winning the Gold that year -- the last time a stock airframe Mustang has won.

Are there any "full aircraft" shots of that Mustang? That's pretty enough to put on a model.

I have lots. It'll be a while, though. I'm scanning for my own archive so things will have to develop at their own pace. Maybe someone else can find something for you now -- that was one of the more photographed Mustangs of the time.
