This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Seeing the wonderful story of Frank Royal and White 33 got me to thinking how many P-38 Projects in the world are there being worked on, or going to be worked on? I'll start with what I believe are in the works or going to be in the pipeline.
1. White 33 should be a real head turner
2. Paul Allen's P-38 project also at WestPac
3. Air Corp Aviation has what I think is the P-38 which Jeff Ethell lost his life in back in 1997. will be restored for Texas Flying Legends at some point in the future
4. I have read there are perhaps 2 P-38 projects in Australia that are in the wings either being restored or going to be. Not sure about these however
If we don't lose any P-38's we could at some point in the future be at a dozen flying P-38's pretty darn good for an aircraft that a few years ago was down to a couple flying at best. If any one knows of others would love to hear about them.

Earlier this year it was reported through various reliable sources that the P-38H "Scarlet Scourge", which had been restored to static display at the Classic Jets Fighter Museum in Australia, and then was recently sold to a new owner and arrived in the UK, is/will be undergoing rebuild to fly.
Beyond the two well underway at Westpac ("White 33" expected to fly quite soon in-fact), they have mentioned in the past that they'd be looking at doing a few more, given all of the airframe components and resources they've amassed for the type. It seems there are actually at least two P-38's which have been tied to FHC/Westpac - the Pacific combat-vet P-38J "Jandina III", and the old CAF P-38J "Scatterbrain Kid II".

It's interesting and exciting the different models that are under restoration. Seems in the warbird world we mostly have the late model birds flying. But the thought of more P-38F/H/J/L's flying is intriguing.

Any word on the one they recently pulled out of that marsh/swamp in New Guinea?

Second link quotes a price $5.6 Million On Completion after 60 month rebuild
Seems optimistically high on the price and optimistically low on the time

Jesse C, the swamp recovery was in the Solomon Islands, not Papua New Guinea. To the best of my knowledge(and I was there last Wednesday), the wreckage is in private storage.
