This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I came across this auction notice and was surprised to see this.
http://carsoncityauctioncompany.hibid.c ... =0&cpage=2From the ad in the local paper it looks like there might be another aircraft of some type and some canopies even though I didn't see them listed in the lots. Dayton NV is a few miles east of Carson City on Hwy 50.

Wow. There can't be many of these that could get into private hands. Would do an owner quite well to restore it and mount it on a trailer, hauled to air shows...

No bids!
Anyone nearby who could pick it up and store it for me?

I bet it's nothing but a shell.

Sure, I'll just toss it in the back of the pickup.
Now they have re-scheduled the auction for Sept. 26th. The auction co. is giving the following Monday for everyone to load out their purchases. That will be an absolute FUBAR with the number of military trucks, trailers, jeeps and other items.
ProudKerman, you think the gov't would let an F-14 cockpit be exported? I kind of doubt it. I wonder how he acquired it? I put in a call to the auction company but haven't heard back from them.

Ok.....it took forever, but I looked thru all the lots listed.
Didn't see anymore aircraft or aircraft parts, except a "1000 gallon" helicopter water drop bucket.
For those who like old trucks and military vehicles there were.....
A couple m151 jeeps
Several 2-5 ton trucks
A nice group of '60's and '70's fire trucks
A '50s Ford water truck
A 70's? Ford cab over tractor, single axle, no trailer
A 79 Ford 4x4 truck with utility bed
A 78 dodge crew cab, with utility bed
And lots of other "stuff".....coke machines, appliances, fire hose lots, ammo cans, tire change equipment, etc,etc......
Overall lots of stuff, some junk, some decent looking.....
Got to wonder how the Tomcat nose got in there....

When a museum had a couple of 14s seized a few years back and this pops up it makes you wonder how...?

Possibly F-14A 161869

Agree with Fouga, 161869 a good candidate and profiled here:
http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/a ... 4/00b.shtmLooks very much like an ex-Fallon Aggressor F-14. Fallon is not too far away from this dealer. Perhaps it snuck out of Fallon as part of a scrap lot deal (ie not noted as an F-14).

Check out the left edge of the number 2 in both photos - we may have a match!

You guys have the eyes of an eagle!

Wow - that is pretty cool! As far as legality - after doing a lot of research as long as what you have is not avionics, powerplant and related items, weapon systems, or flight control systems there really is no problem with it being offered for sale privately. Having said that I wonder about a whole cockpit section but maybe it is totally gutted!

I'm going to go after it. The F-14 was THE plane that got me into Aviation.
I remember being a little Boy and having an F-14 RC Car. It had about a 5ft long cord that went from the controller to the plane and you could drive it around extending the wings and turning on different sounds etc.
My Favorite TV Show was JAG as a kid and all the way up until 2006 when they retired the Tomcat, my plane for life was to be the real Harmen Raab, fly the F-14 and then become a lawyer. As soon as the F-14 was decommissioned, I no longer wanted to be a naval aviator though I would now if I had the four year to allow me to join...
Man I hope I can get this!

Good luck - hope you get it! When you haul it across country, stick a couple GoPros on the sides to catch the reactions of your fellow motorists...

Good luck on getting that Tyler. I hope you have read their terms and conditions. They are now allowing two days to get your purchases out of there before they are considered abandoned and they keep them.
Good job on the ID Fouga23, sandiego89 and Chris Brame. That is what I love about WIX.

All the best Tyler, and keep us posted! Your username....would you consider making it into a simpit? That would be awesome!
I'm a "Top Gun" kid so the F-14 will always be close to my heart. Good luck!!!
