The World's Newest P-40 Pilot!

Mike Potter, yesterday, in the VWoC Kittyhawk.

Just a cellphone shot, but the smiles are genuine.

Mike of course owns the aircraft of the Vintage Wings of Canada Collection, and is a very widely experienced warbird pilot, but with all the other lovely distractions there, had never checked-out on the P-40.

He liked it, and said he could have done aerobatics in it all day. (The air was smooth as butter, and the cold Fall temps were delightfully supportive.) We looped and rolled and cuban-ed endlessly.

After ground-school and aircraft familiarization, first flight was a demo with him in the back seat (it's the only dual-control prop fighter in Canada).

Then we refueled...

...and swapped seats.

Lovely day and mission accomplished.

Congratulations indeed!

Does anyone throw five gallon pails of ice water on Mike?

Congratulations! I still remember RObert Scott's description of flying the P-40 in the book "God Is My Co-Pilot". Very fast roll rate, extremely manueverable, joy to fly.
