A-26 (B-26) Question

Tue Nov 24, 2015 10:05 am

While in Phoenix this past week to see my friend Dave Hamilton receive the French Legion of Honor medal, he characterized himself as a "Douglas man", having flown C-47s in WW2 and B-26s in Korea. Dave was pilot of PF plane #14 in Normandy. He was with the 17th BG in Korea and I asked him if his plane had a name. It did: "Sweet Miss Lillian".

I searched GOOGLE and see that the example at March AFB Museum apparently IS the original Lillian, but has had different art at different times. Can any of the A-/B-26 specialists verify that the March example is CURRENTLY (correctly) painted as Lillian before I get Dave all wound up about it?

Dave is 93 and sharp as nails...he could easily run the check list on any plane he ever flew and fly it....
