Air Museum Zero

Sun Dec 04, 2005 11:06 pm

I paid my first visit to Chino yesterday, after wanting to go there ever since I can remember.

It was well worth the trip just to see the Air Museum's Zero in the air. As far as I'm concerned, this is the only genuine, original Axis combat aircraft still airworthy anywhere in the world.

Thanks for sharing, Mike.

Now what did you think of the rest of the collection? Any juicy tidbits of news?

Great photos Mike! Does the Sakae sound as "nothing else like it in the
world", as Steve Hinton has stated in the past? thanks for sharing!

Wish I had known you would be there. Would have come by to say hello! You can almost see my hangar in your photos looking to the east.

Believe it or not, that was the fist airplane that I ever flew formation with! (with myself at the controls anyway). It was at Sunset a few years ago before their airshow, I was in one of our P-40's and John Maloney was flying the Zero. Man...that was a very, very neat day in my life that I will never forget. P-40, Zero, Sunset, first form-up and Maloney at the controls. Talk about something you dream about your whole life growing up. Very sureal kind of evening.
