Refresh my memory someone. Didnt someone acquire this Hellcat within the last 2 years or so?

It was purchased by Jack Croul/Allied Fighters a few years ago and is under restoration at Vintage Airframes, where the P-47 "Dottie Mae" has also been under restoration for Allied Fighters. It has shown up in the background of some of the "Dottie Mae" photos, such as this one: http://www.warbirdinformationexchange.o ... =3&t=56650 It had previously been owned by Bill Compton.

And of course the Collings Foundation Hellcat (formerly with Evergreen) has been under restoration at American Aero Services.

Thanks John. I could not remember if Allied bought it or if it was with the Collings Foundation to be used in the restoration of their Hellcat.

I believe the Collings Hellcat was on display at Evergreen, but owned by, and acquired from, the Marine Corps Museum.

Allied Fighters used the Collings airframe to build their jig. Once that was completed it moved on to American Aero, where it is quickly coming together.
